BEHIND THE LYRICS

There were a few things going through my mind that drew these words out. I will share with anyone who asks, but I’d like these words to remain abstract for you to reflect on and find meaning for yourself.

BEHIND THE RECORDING

I had the privilege of working with one of my favorite producer Badboxes. I wrote the song one evening, and we immediately started building the track. This is video from that evening - a look into the tedious/fun/exploratory process of producing a song.

BEHIND THE ARTWORK

I commissioned Thomas West who I have worked with before when producing Simple Offering’s album “Prodigal”. I didn’t give him any direction, but he captured the essence of the song perfectly. I like the visual effect of the ‘echo’ of the word voices, almost like there are multiple voices saying the word “voices”. The picture of me that he chose is contemplative yet mysterious, and the static effect against the dark background compliments dark tone of the music bed in the track, and the journey of trying to discern the various voices that accompany us all.
